Carlos Maxwell's photography
This photograph is an image of a bench in the landscape. The subject of the image is the bench due to the fact that it is the only part of the image that has any form of colour on this image. The rest of the image is black and white and it makes the coloured bench stand out a lot more than what it would if the image was in colour. The Subject image is realistic however it has been edited so that it is not black a white like the rest of the image. I do not think that there is a story behind this image because it is just a picture of the bench. I feel that the image is a manmade object that is in the landscape that has been edited to give it the current effect that it has on it. He may have wanted to show the bench in this way because it may mean a lot to him. for example, the photographer may of had a life changing event happen here. This may be why he edited it the way that he did it. This makes the bench stand out a lot more than what it would if the bench was black and white like the rest of the image. There is a path in this image that runs the all of the way through IT. This makes the bench stand out more as it is as if the path is negative space for this image. This use of negative space in the bottom half of the image makes it look better as the rest of the image is full of different textures. I feel this photograph would of been made by taking a photo then editing it in black and white then making it so that the bench is in colour. I think the photographer has tried to make it so that the bench stands out as if it is an important part of their life. I feel the image is very calming as even though the image is a very busy image it doesn't have much colour in it which makes it seem as busy.
